Dark Angels, Savage Worlds

Justus's Diary (Do NOT Read!)

Day 1
Dear Diary,
I can’t believe we are about to ship out and maybe get a chance to fight something for real. We were just made scouts and already, all I can think about is being an Apothecary. Vren smiled at me once today…I think he knows I’m the most loyal! Taking care of Gene Seed is what I was born to do and one day I’m gonna be the best Apothecary ever…well, at least as good as the best…meaning as good as the vast majority of all other apothecaries with the same experience and gene seed. After all, if there wasn’t the occasional defective gene seed pool, I wouldn’t have a job to aspire to…hehe. Oh yeah, we are going onto a human ship in order to rendezvous with another ship and check out some strange occurances. This will be a great chance to impress Vren. I really hope they don’t have squash casserole again in the mess hall. It makes the whole damn company more gassy than a neutron star.

Day 2
Dear Diary,
Last night I dreamed that the Emperor himself was giving me a medal for being the greatest Apothecary ever…and he actually commemorated my gene seed, reserving it to be replicated for a super special elite fighting force that would be used to eradicate all who oppose the empire, and then I got a mighty war axe that shot pulses of blue energy and would come back to me if I threw it, and then Vrendarious was there and he told me that I was the best student he had ever seen, and then Andronium farted really loud in the bunk next to me and woke me up…damn squash casserole! It was right before the wake up alarm though, so I was up and ready when Vren entered and roused everyone. Oh yeah, then Vren gave Android the task of checking the engine room, and I could tell Vren also wanted me to tag along and make sure things didn’t get out of hand. Later, he said something about a problem with the spirits in the machine and Vren seemed to think it was important. It’s a good thing that I went along, or “fix-it man” may not have had the confidence to pull something like that off.

Day 3
Deary Diary,
I think its wierd how we all look the same…I mean as an aspiring apothecary, I totally get how this happens. I mean, duh…we all come from a narrow albeit elite line of gene seed. But I think when i am Grand High Apothecary Commander (a title I shall create)I will engineer a varity of gene strains that retain charateristics needed to make great space marines while also providing a variety of appearances. Hmmm….back to studying apothecary thingies.

Day 4
Dear Diary,
Apparently the fact that we made it through the warp is a really big deal according to “Mr. I’m a Big Shot Fix-It Man Whiny-Butt Smarty Pants Everybody Look At Me Talk To the Machine Spirits Andromeda” I mean, talk about drama…he wouldn’t be quiet about it. He practically wet his pants and why? Because he thought the warp was gonna swallow us up. How many times have we used the warp without a hitch? Okay, maybe only a couple, but Vren said one time that he has used it lots of times. Space Marines use it every day, and that’s what we are now. Still, Androgenous does seem to do a good job talking to the spirits, so I’m glad he’s on my team…a true testament to the power of the gene seed. Oohh, Oohh, Vren just came in and told me that I get to go with a team and investigate an imperial ship that’s not responding…He so thinks I’m awesome! First to Serve!

Day 5
Dear Sweet Lovely Diary,
Thank Cold Hard Logic that I am alive to write in you tonight. Cacchius, Double Tap, Andre, and myself just served up a whole casserole dish full of super nova fury on some crazy altered imperials. Honestly after three days on this cramped ship with their little high pitched voices I wanted to pinch a couple of their heads off, so it was probably fortunate for our sanity that we encountered some of the wee folk who had been changed as it were. Seems like Ole Androlo may have been on to something with those machine spirits. Turns out the engines in the ship that we boarded were altered in the same way as the ship we are on, but to a higher degree. Vren led us to the control deck on our ship where I’m pretty sure that I made the puny imperial leader pee in his trousers. He came clean after I stared him down, and told us pretty much squat…he doesn’t really seem to know much. Anyway…I guess time will only tell if we are able to make it through another warp or not. You know, I think I really built up even more trust between Vren and I…I’m pretty sure he’s going to go ahead and make me an apothecary any day now.

Andronus Scout Diary Pt 1

Day One

Training with Vren has been tough, but it is all about to pay off, I hope. I have been in this tower for so many years now that I have forgotten what it is like to be anything other than a Marine in the service of the Emperor. That is all for the best, though. There is nothing better in this life than to serve the Emperor, and through him, the Empire.

My fellow trainees and I have just gotten the word that we are to ship out soon. We will be joining the ranks of Dark Angels as Scouts. I look forward to beginning my real service and can only hope that it will lead me to my goal: training on Mars for 3 decades so that I might better understand the machines and machine spirits that have helped make this Empire so great.

Day Two

Turns out that we will be leaving the tower in the company of a bunch of human imperials. Seems that they have a fast transport to the science research planet that we are bound for. I had forgotten how tiny humans are! It is hard to believe that I was ever so small. Their forks are irritatingly small . . . something that I must bring to the attention of the Captain of this ship.

Vern has asked me to check out the warp drives in the engine room. Can you believe it? Some puny human tried to tell me that I could not do so. As if he could stop me. I examined the engines and I was astonished at what I found! The spirits have been altered in a way that I do not recognize. I informed Vren and he arranged a meeting between my squad and the human captain of this ship. After a little convincing, he decided to tell us that the engines had been altered to make a trip through the warp faster than normal. As recompense for his lack of forthcoming I demanded a Marine-sized fork. Lucky for him that he complied.

On a more serious tone, I am concerned about these engine alternations. The warp is nothing to be trifled with. I hope for a safe trip through the warp so that I may emerge a Scout in the Emperor’s service.

Day 3

This trip is quite boring. Some of the other Marines are entertaining themselves by impressing the puny humans with their martial skills. I am checking on the engines when I can, just to be on the safe side. Besides, I do find that myself intrigued by the possible implications of the change to the engine spirits.

Day 4

We have emerged from the warp unscathed. However, there are reports of an abandoned and listing science ship nearby. Vren has selected myself, Doubletap, Cauckious and Justice to investigate. I take the presumption of finding his choice a wise one. As a group, the four of us complement each other well with our different skills and ability. I admit that I find myself hoping for a bit of action.

Day 5

Apparently the gods and the Emperor were listening; we encountered quite a fight aboard the science vessel! It seems the crew had been infected and changed by the warp. They were feral and had sprouted long claws. They also had extra rows of razor sharp teeth in their mouth and attacked with no provocation. Unfortunately they proved no challenged to us and were dispatched with ease. The only hitch were the few holes I punched in the hull with my bolt pistol; luckily I was able to fix the breach with no sweat: these human ships are so frail.

We encountered the Captain of the ship in the engine room. He too was altered and was stronger than the rest of the crew. Still, he proved no match for a squad of Dark Angel Marines – even just Scouts like us. I was able to stabilize the ship, bring the engines and gravity back online and bring the ship around to follow the imperial transport we had been on. As it turns out, the machine spirits having to do with the warp on this ship had also been altered in a similar way to those on the transport. I am very curious to get to our destination to find out more about how these scientists have been altering these spirits. The warp is nothing to be trifled with.

Barretus L. Calibrinius: Scout Diaries
Freaking Humans
Finally…all the training will be put to use. We just got our assignments as scouts. I know it’s not a full-blown marine yet…but after a few decades of this…real life action…we’ll get there. I can’t wait to kill some shit.
Some pretty messed up stuff’s been happening to the ships that have been traveling through the Warp, evidently…something about the machine spirits…I don’t know…don’t care to know. Vrendarius seemed pretty upset when A told him…stupid human imperials think they can keep secrets from us..HA! You should have seen the looks on their faces when we flanked Vren through their bridge on the way to ream their captain! It was PRICELESS! FOR THE EMPIRE!!
We came upon a scientific research vessel after coming out of the warp…evidently whatever influence it’s had on the ships rapidly speeds them up..not that I’m complaining…the sooner I get out of this imperial stench and into combat, the better.
Man, this is strange. I know we’ve been training for years…and I’m glad I got to blow the heads off of some corrupted imperials…pompus assholes…but still. That wasn’t normal. Never heard of people going bat shit and growing a mouthful of fangs! I’m ashamed to say I got a little rattled when three of the fuckers jumped me at one time…it was the last thing that they did, however, before I exploded their heads. Vren was happy with the job we did…and the rest of the Marines were stupid envious that we got to see some action…I’ve got a feeling that they’ll all get their turn.
I know we’re Marines…and the Empire only recruits the best of the best for what we do…but I’m actually proud to be a member of this squad. The team works well together, and if we’re able to hook back up after the Librarian and Machine Boy (A) go get their additional training, we’ll be unstoppable! I still get a kick out of the look on the imperial’s faces after watching Librarian and I doing some target practice in the gun range…guess they’ve never seen Psionics before. If they have, they did a damn good job of acting like they hadn’t.
